How we started
Potter Stewart, Jr., the son of the United States Supreme Court Justice, started the firm at 153 Main Street, Brattleboro in 1993. He was soon joined by Alexander (Sandy) Shriver and the firm quickly expanded and moved to the third floor of the Merchants Bank Building at 205 Main Street, Brattleboro. Potter Stewart, Jr. Law Offices, P.C. grew to have nine lawyers in two different offices (Brattleboro, Vermont and Lyme, New Hampshire).
When Potter Stewart, Jr. retired, the next generation of leaders changed the firm name to Phillips, Dunn, Shriver and Carroll and moved to our current location at 147 Western Ave., Brattleboro, Vermont. Now that Stephen Phillips, David Dunn, and Rich Carroll have retired, Shriver Law Group is excited to launch the third chapter of the firm’s existence.
